In a May, 2016 article in Arctic Deeply Maatali Okalik notes the five priorities established at the 10th National Inuit Youth Summit in August, 2015. The first was to “enhance our relationship with Inuktitut;” the second, “to reclaim our culture;” and the fourth, “education and empowerment.” These priorities are consistent with 5 of the 6 pillars of effective bilingual education in Inuit Nunangat (1-4 and 6) as summarized in the Akuttujuuk Literature Review.
